Abstract
Studies on soils of Southern dry region of Karnataka revealed that most of the soils are alkaline in reaction, electrical conductivity values are low and decreased with depth, organic carbon content varied low to high and increased with depth. The cat ion exchange capacity increased with depth and exchange complex was in the order of calcium>magnesium> sodium>potassium in both soil types. ESP values were within safer limit.
