S.G. Hegde, K.H. Anahosur

Abstract

Field trials were conducted during 1992 and 1993 on integrated management of foot rot of black pepper. Application of neem cake + Trichoderma harzianum +Ridomil MZ + garlic and mustard seed extract + mulching of the wet soil with transparent polythene sheet in hot summer was the best treatment and resulted in maximum survival of vines 88.89 per cent where as 11.11 per cent in control. The soil temeprature increased from 24.5°C to 29.63°C. The population of Phytophthora capsici was reduced to 25.76 per cent from 89.76 per cent (control). Also, there was considerable increase of colonies per gram of soli of Tharzianum (155.55 x 103) other fungi (47.33 x 103) bacteria (85.00 x 104) and actinomycetes (35.00 x 103) which have suppressed P capsici with their antagonistic effect.
