Abstract

Forecasting studies on late leaf spot and rust over three rabi/summer seasons indicated that incidence of both the diseases was much delayed extending to the larger growing stage of the crop which may be accounted due to high maximum temperature and low relative humidity. However, normal sown crop was always first to exhibit infection. The increment in disease development was high in short intervals when maximum temperature decreased and relative humidity increased due to premonsoon rains which concided with the later stage of the crop growth. It is concluded that spray schedule needs to be adjusted to coincide with these changed weather conditions when disease can be forecasted for effective management.
