Socio-Economic Characteristics of Beneficiaries and Non-beneficiaries of Integrated Child-Development Services Project in Dharwad District of Karnataka State

Abstract
The study carried out in Dharwad taluk of Dharwad district of Karnataka revealed that a majority of the beneficiaries were of young age (62.5%). illiterate (48.75%) belonged to small (65%) and nuclear family type (61.25%), with an annual income up to Rs.11.500/- (80%), 48 per cent of respondents did not possess land. Agriculture (55.80%) was the main occuption of the family of beneficiaries, and a majority (87 .5%) possessed radio while in case of non-benericiaries a majority (66.25%), of them were middle aged literate (68.75%) with an annual income above Rs.11,500/- (70 to 100%),. Nearly 67.5 per cent of non-beneficiaries possessed land. Fifty percent of non-beneficiaries family's main occuption was agriculture and almost all (98.50%) of the non-beneficiaries possessed radio.
