Abstract

Studies to know the nutrient content and nutrient uptake pattern in ginger cultivars was conducted during the years 1995 and 96. Maximum nitrogen content in rhizome (1/81%), shoot (1.90%) and root (1.00%) was recorded in the cultivar Nadan. Phosphorous content of rhizome (0.44%) and shoot (0.38%) was highest in the cultivar Maran. The rhizome (2.56%) and shoot (2.44%) of the cultivar Waynad Local had maximum potassium content. The cultivar Nadan removed maximum nitrogen (150.31 kg ha-1) and potassium (213.31 kg ha-1), where as the cultivar Maran removed maximum phosphorous (35.91 kg ha-1), where as the cultivar Maran removed maximum phosphorous (35.91 kg ha-1), where as the cultivar Maran removed maximum phosphorous (35.91 kg ha-1) from the soil.
