Abstract

Among the oilseed crops grown in India, Sunflower has occupied a prime position. Constraints with respect to availability of timely inputs, credits, technologies and marketing facilities to farmers play a pivotal role in restricting the production. An attempt has been made in this study to analyze the constraints in the adoption of Sunflower technologies as perceived by the farmers. Problem in seed setting, pollination, self-incompatibility and birds damage are the major constraints in the adoption of. Lack of availability of required finance and high rate of interest, lack of marketing facilities at local level, poor transportation facilities, lack of availability of timely quality seeds, poor and non availability of timely technical guidance are some of the constraints perceived by the farmers. There is an urgent need for administrators, planners and extension workers to give importance to tackle these to increase the Sunflower production in the country.
