Abstract

The type of fuel and heating units used in 206 rural households of Dharwad taluka was studied by the - All India- Coordinated Research Project on Home and Farm Management. Majority of the rural households use agricultural waste as fuel (90.8%) and conventional chulas as the heating units. The experiments to test the efficiency of chulas revealed that by using Astra smokeless chula, 34 percent of the fuel could be saved. The adoption of energy saving technologies was found to be very low, which calls for attention to conserve energy for future.
