Abstract

The flower buds of three varieties of Gerbera were used as an explant for culture establishment. MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/l BAP + 0.1 mg/l IAA was best medium for culture establishment. Bonnie variety gave best response for shoot regeneration. More number of shoots (11.29) were produced on MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/l BAP + 0.1 mg/l NAA. Bonnie was also the best variety with respect to shoot multiplication (10.95 shoots). MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/l NAA was found to be the best medium for in vitro rooting of shoots (94.0 % rooting). The highest per cent rooting is being recorded in Tobia (88.0%).
