Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during late kharif 2005 and 2006 at ZARS, Navile, Shimoga using different irrigation and moisture conservation treatments. During both the years, crop experienced drought during silking and grain development stage. The higher grain yield of 4145 kg / ha was realized under two irrigations each at silking and grain filling stage, over other treatments. Single irrigation either at grain development  or irrigation at silking  was the next best treatment (3964 and 3794 kg/ha). Mulching alone recorded grain yield of 3718 kg/ha.
