Monitoring of pink bollworm moths with sex pheromone traps and its relationship with larval population and field incidence.

D.M. Korat, S. Lingappa

Abstract

Seasonal abundance of Pectinophora gossypiella was studied by using sex pheromone traps at two different sites in Dharwad, Karnataka during 1989-91. Emergence of P. gossypiella commenced at the end of second week in October. During 1989/90, five peaks (first and third weeks in November, third week in December, and first and third weeks in January) were observed at one site. A positive and significant (r = 0.582) correlation was noticed between trap catches and larval population. A positive and significant (r= 0.575) correlation was also established between trap catches and field infestation.
