Abstract

Field investigation was undertaken to find out suitable weed control methods for kharif grown soybean in the transitional tract of Dharwad and Bailhongal under rainfed conditions. Herbicide clomazone (1 kg/ha) recorded significantly higher yield during both the years of study followed by two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS. The herbicides fluchloralin, metalachlor, alachlor and nabu-S were on par with each other. Significantly higher weed control efficiency (83.04 and 84.91%) and lowest weed dry weight (181 and 161 kg/ha) and weed count (8.00 and 7.67) were recorded with clomazone and hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS respectively. Similarly, net profit and B:C ratio were higher with clomazone and hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS treatments.
