Abstract

Field screening of 53 redgram genotypes comprising early, midlate and late maturity group was undertaken for their reaction to the attack of the pod borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) at Main Research Station, Dharwad, Karnataka during 1988-89. The genotypes were categorized based on the per cent pod damage by using mean standard deviation. The results revealed that the per cent pod damage ranged from 6.67 (GS-1) to 72.00 (Pusa-33) during the season. The genotypes, GC 7-133, GC 11-44, GC 11-39-2, GC 11-39-1, GC 11-21-1, GS-1, PT 221, GC 11-43, GC 7-94, GC 11-6-1, PD 1 x ICP 8863-430, PD 1 x C 11 and GC 11-47-4 were found tolerant by recording less than 12.69 per cent pod damage.
