Abstract

The laboratory studies were conducted in the Department of Seed of Science and Technology, UAS, Dharwad during 2002 to investigated the quality as influenced by levels spacing (30x10, 45x10, 3000, 45 x 20 cm)and phosphorus (75kg, l00kg, and 125kg /ha) . The seed samples were obtained from field experiment and subjected to seed quality analysis. The higher seed germination (92.08%) was recorded with 3Ox20cm spacing which was on par at 45x20 cm (91.50 %). Where as other parameters like root length, shoot length and seed index did not varied significantly. The seed protein per cent  was maximum at wider spacing of 45x20 cm(23.60) fallowed by 30x20cm spacing (22.20). The application of 125 kg P205 per ha recorded higher seed germination , root length. shoot length, seed index, seed protein and seedling dry weight as compared to 100 and 75 kg P205per ha. The treatment combination of 45x20cm spacing with 125 kg P205 per ha recorded higher seed quality parameters like germination per cent, seedling dry weight and seed weight and was on par with interaction of 30 x 20cm spacing with 125 kg P205 per ha.
