Analysis of Farm Power Availability in Mansalapur Village

Abstract


A survey was conducted in Mansalapur village of Raichur district during the year 1990-91 to assess the farm power availability and scope to introduce farm machinery in the village. The study revealed that draft animals constituted only 23.21 per cent of the total live stock population; approximately 86.21 per cent of land was cultivated by rainfed farming; seventy three per cent of cultivable area was owned by large farmers, land-man-live stock dependancy values were 1.60 person/ha and 7.14 ha/draft animal pair. The total mean power density of the village was only 0.47 kw/ha. The farmers were using only indigenous tools and implements for various farm operations and there is scope to introduce improved machinery and tools in the village
