Pathogenicity of Fungi Associated with Sorghum Stalk Rot

A.R. Hundekar, K.H. Anahosur

Abstract

Seven fungal species, namely, Macrophomina phaseolina, Fusarium moniliforme, Fusarium moniliforme var. subglutinans, Fusarium anthophilum, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium pallidoroseum and Fusarium sp (section Liseola ) were isolated from roots and stalks of sorghum stalk rot plants. Infested tooth pick inoculation technique and soil inoculation with giant culture were separately carried out to assess the pathogenic effects and pathogenicity of isolated individual fungal species on sorghum genotype CSH-5. M. phaseolina, F. moniliforme and F. moniliforme var subglutinans were proved as pathogens of sorghum stalk rot
