Studies on Rainfall at A.R.S. Dharwad Farm

Abstract


Thee rainfall pattern of Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad for the 55 year period (1936-1991) was analysed for annual, seasonal and monthly period. The period experienced 16 drought, 29 normal and 10 abnormal years with a coefficient of variation of 25.9 per cent. The drought and normal months accounted for 42.9 per cent and 47.7 per cent respectively. Seasonal analysis revealed that 18.4 per cent of the months are drought-prone during kharif and 53 per cent during rabi. The rainfall pattern also showed that there is no definite significant change in rainfall. High degree of relationship was found between rainfall and coefficient of variation
