B. Sathyanarayana Reddy, P. Muddappa Gowda

Abstract

The plants set out early in the season were the tallest and recorded maximum girth, more number of branches, higher dry weight of whole plant and higher marketable yields, while, those planted later in the season, were stunted and produced lower yields. Among the cultivars, Pusa Purple Cluster was the tallest, while Malapur Thornless was the shortest. Pusa Kranthi produced the maximum number of branches. Pusa Purple Cluster produced the highest number of fruits as well as marketable yield per plant, while Malapur Thornless produced the lowest number of fruits as well as lesser marketable yield per plant, when planted in August
