Abstract

Population dynamics of cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) using yellow sticky traps at Regional Research Station, Raichur during 1986-88 revealed greater activity of the pest from November to January. In the absence of cotton, the whitefly lurked in negligible number on alternate hosts. The trap fixed at 30 cm from ground level recorded more number of whitefly compared to 60 cm and 90 cm height. Significantly negative relationship between whitefly catch and maximum and minimum temperatures and significantly positive relationship with mean morning relative humidity was noticed. All the weather parameters collectively influenced the whitefly population from 42.9 to 70.6 per cent
