Abstract

Studies on phenotypic and genotypic correlation among growth, yield and quality attributes in tomato that is strongly affected by the associated characters. Considering the various correlations, it is suggested that there is a need for judicious and simultaneous selection for fruits per plant as well as per raceme and fruit size, and also for a compromise between yield and the two quality traits namely total soluble solids and ascorbic acid content, while simultaneous selection for yield, pericarp thickness and titratable acidity would be fairly easy to accomplish.
