Foraging Activities of Indian Honeybee, Apis cerana Fabricius Under Dharwad Conditions

Abstract


The studies on foraging activities of Indian honeybee, Apis cerana Fab. was carried out in Dharwad during 1989-90 to know the foraging pattern in different seasons. The entire year was split up into three seasons, viz. monsoon, winter and summer. The foraging activity was at its peak between 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. in Monsoon, 8 to 11 A.M. in winter and 6 to 11 A.M. and4 to 6 P.M. in Summer. During remaining hours of the day the foraging activity was low in different seasons.
