All the 18 intra-hirsutum hybrids tested showed significantly positive heterosis over mid-parent for seed cotton yield and 14 for boll number. None of the hybrids showed significant heterosis over mid-parent on either direction for boll weight. Number of bolls, boll weight and seed cotton yield showed inbreeding depression. The* magnitude of inbreeding depression for boll weight (2.3-12.2%) was lower than the magnitude of inbreeding depression for boll number (39.5-69.4%) and seed cotton yield (44.4-66.7%).
