Abstract

In pot experiment, papaya seedlings were inoculated with three species of VAM, G, fasciculatum, S. dussii, A. laevis and drought was imposed after two months of growth by withdrawing water.  Significantly higher chlorophyll 'a' chlorophyll 'b' and total chlorophyll content was noticed in plants inoculated with G. fasciculatum and S. dussii before and 10 days after drought imposition.  Higher relative water content of leaf was observed in G. fasciculatum inoculated plants.  Significantly higher soil moisture per cent was also noticed in G. fasciculatum inoculated plants before and after drought imposition.  Significantly lowest proline was, observed in G. fasciculatum inoculated plants 10 days after drought and at 20 days plants treated with A. laevis showed lowest proline.
