Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2003 to study the performance of three genotypes (Contender, Waghya and HPR-35) of rajmash (Phaseolus vulgaris) at four sowing dates (first and second fortnights of June and July). The findings revealed that the yields of all the varieties reduced significantly when the sowing was delayed. June month was found to be optimum sowing period for all the genotypes. Among the cultivars, HPR-35 (799 kg ha-1) was superior to Waghya (688 kg ha-1) while Contender (784 kg ha-1) was comparable. None of the treatment combinations indicated significant interaction effects with any of the parameters.
