Expenditure and consumption pattern was studied in 206 rural households of Dharwad District under different land holdings. The average expenditure in large landholding households was higher and significantly different when compared with the other landholding categories. Further, the correlation co-efficient indicated highly positive and significant relationship of the per capita expenditure with family size and the size of landholding. The major item of expenditure was food followed by expenditure on clothing, function etc./and the least was on education.
