Abstract

Intercropping of groundnut (S-206) and pigeonpea (GS-1) in rowportion of 4:2 with replacement series i.e., maintaining 100 per cent population of groundnut base crop) and 50 per cent population of pigeonpea (intercrop) proved advantageous over row proportions of 2:1,3:1 and 5:1 with both additive and replacement series and as well as sole crops. Although the total production and LFR were slightly higher in 3:1 and 4:2 row proportions with additive series, the net returns and benefit-cost ratio were improved in 4:2 row proportion of groundnut + pigeonpea with replacement series. The benefit-cost ratio with the above treatment was the highest (Rs. 2.33) followed by 3:1 row proportion with replacement series (Rs. 2.01)
