The present study was conducted on 150 children in the age range of 5-7 years of Dharwad city to assess their physical growth and factors influencing it. There was positive relationship between age of the children and the rate of physical growth but age of the children was significantly associated with weight of the children. The mean height and weight of children were significantly lower than the ICMR values. Further, socio-economic status of the family had significant influence on the weight rather than height of the children. Assessment of nutritional status revealed that a greater percentage of boys were malnourished. Age-wise comparison indicated that more number of children in the age group of 6-7 years were malnourished. Further, the studies also revealed that more number of children belonging to low socio-economic group were malnourished.
