Seven intra-barbadense hybrids showed positive significant heterosis over commercial interspecific hybrid DCH-32 for seed cotton yield (14.3 -19.5%), for boll number (26.3 - 35.0%) and for boll weight*(2.2 - 4.4%). These seven hybrids also exhibited positive sea effect for seed cotton yield. Five of these seven hybrids also exhibited positive sea effect for boll number. Crosses possessing high sea effects involving lines and testers with high gca effect, tester and lines with low gca effect and testers with high gca effect were indentified for future use in the breeding programme.
