Abstract

Six genotypes of pigeonpea (PT 221, C 28, Cll-3, ICPL 265, ICP8863 and ICPH 2) were tested as companion crops in intercropping system with hybrid bajra MBH-110 under dryland conditions of Bijapur, during kharif season for three years with an objective of identifying the best pigeonpea genotype for intercropping in hybrid bajra with 2 : I row proportion of bajra and pigeonpea. Differences in grain yields of bajra among the treatments were not significant. The pigeonpea genotypes caused no adverse effect on the yield of bajra. Among the pigeonpea genotypes tested, ICP 8863 has produced 18 to 45% more grain yield, 14 to 21% more calories and 9 to 24% higher gross income than other genotypes
