Abstract
Modern concept of pest management encircles the sound economic principles and interpretations to make the insect control schedule more scientific and viable. The results on the efficacy of nine insecticides evaluated against Orange headed leaf hopper (OHLH) indicated the population of hoppers was significantly low in all the chemical treatments as compared to the untreated control at two days, two weeks, four weeks and six weeks after the treatment. Among the treatments, application of monocrotophos at 30 days after transplanting was found to be most ideal. As a consequence of OHLH control due to insecticidal application, grain yield differences among the different treatments were also significant.
