Abstract
Among different silkworm breeds and hybrids the bivoltine hybrids Saniish-18 xNBis resulted in superiority for progression to fourth instar and maximum larval weight whereas NB18 x J 122 showed superiority for larval weight at the end of third instar and maximum larval weight. Amongst multi x bivoltine single cross hybrids, C. Nichi x NB is and C. Nichi x NB7 exhibited better performance for two characters each. The three-way cross hybrid (NB7X KA) x C. Nichi topped in respect of three quantitative traits. In general, the bivoltine single crosses showed superiority for both the larval weights. Multi x bivoltine single crosses and three-way cross hybrids performed better for progression to fourth instar, larval duration and effective rate of rearing.
