Abstract
A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of varietal mixture of sorghum on* fodder yield and quality under rainfed conditions in kharif season of 1986. Three sorghum* varieties were tested. It was observed that the treatment having 66 per cent J-set-3 with 33^ per cent SB-1079 recorded significantly higher green fodder yield (56.54 t/ha) compared to the green fodder yield of sole J-set-3 (49 60 t/ha). The same treatment also recorded significantly higher crude protein yield (15.04 q/ha) and less fibre content (32.58%) compared to sole J-set-3 (10.95 q/ha crude protein yield and 34.32% fibre content). So, mixing of these varieties was found to be better to have higher quantity of nutritious fodder than the present ruling practice of growing J-set-3 alone.
