Abstract

Drechslera hawaiiensis (Bugnicourt) Subram. and Jain Ex. M. B. Ellis causing leaf blight of wheat was isolated from wheat variety local red. The pathogen differed in its efficiency to grow at diffdrent pH levels, and temperature, so also in the utilization of carbon and nitrogen. The pathogen made maximum growth on the 12 th day of seeding in potato dextrose broth. Also maximum growth was recorded in Richard's medium at pH of 6.0 and temperature of 30°C with maltose as carbon source and DL-methionine as nitrogen source.
