J.S. Sonnad, K.C. Hiremath, H. Basavaraja

Abstract

The focus of the study was on the economic evaluation of conjunctive use of water in crop production in Bijapur district which comes under the Ghataprabha Command Area. The study was based on the primary data collected from 296 farmers belonging to different lize groups for the agricultural year 1985-86. The crop production activity on sample farms was evaluated by adopting the usual farm management cost concepts and measures of income. The study revealed that the crop production with conjunctive use of water was more profitable than that without conjunctive use of water. The net income per hectare from lands with conjunctive use of water was about six times more than that realized on lands without conjunctive use of water.
