Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural College Farm, Raichur with three pigeonpea genotypes and four planting geometries under rainfed condition during 2009-10. The results revealed that the differences in the seed yield differed significantly among the three pigeonpea genotypes. The seed yield produced by genotype BSMR-736 (1308 kg ha-1) was found to be significantly higher than the seed yield (1125 kg ha-1) obtained by TS-3R which was on par with ICPL-85063 (1146 kg ha-1). The extent of reduction in seed yield by TS-3R and ICPL-85063 was 16 and 14 percent when compared to BSMR-736, respectively. The net returns (28626 ha-1) and B:C ratio were found to be significantly higher in BSMR-736 compared to TS-3R and ICPL-85063. Among different Planting geometries 90 cm x 20 cm recorded significantly higher seed yield (1289 kg ha -1) and net return (`26154 ha-1) when compared to rest of spacings
