Abstract

Fifty five intra-hirsutum hybrids from a 11 x 11 half diallel of Gossypium hirsutum L. genotypes along with their parents were tested in three environments at Agricultural Research Station, Siruguppa, Agricultural Research Station, Bheemarayanagudi and Main Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad during Kharif 2006-07. The heterobeltiosis for seed cotton yield ranged from -9.65 to 37.43 per cent with the best cross combination being CPD 803 x Surabhi. High heterosis was also recorded for lint yield (30.73%), number of bolls per plant (30.43%) and sympodia per plant (46.14%), while very low heterobeltiosis was observed for ginning out-turn (4.85%) and seed index (5.37%).
