Abstract

The study conducted on a sample of 120 infants from two villages in Dharwad taluka, district Dharwad to know the influence of temperament on developmental outcomes revealed that mother's temperament affected the mental development indices significantly while no effect was seen on psycho-motor development indices.  However, the child's temperament had a significant impact on psycho-motor indices but not on mental development indices.  Temperament was assessed by interviewing the mothers using the scale developed for this purpose.  The developmental outcomes of the infants assessed by administering the Bayley scale(I969) of infant development.
