Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2011 at Agricultural College Farm, Raichur to study the effect of macro nutrients and liquid fertilizers on growth and yield of irrigated Bt cotton. The results revealed that application of 125 per cent RDF recorded the highest seed cotton yield, boll weight, lint index, gross returns, net returns and BC ratio (19.25 q ha-1, 106.92 g plant-1,4.13, 5.60, ` 79,718 ha-1, `56,740 ha-1and 3.51, respectively ) over 100 per cent RDF (17.04 q ha-1, 94.86 g plant-1, 3.89, 5.51, ` 70,505 ha-1, `48,723 ha-1and 3.24, respectively). Among foliar spray of liquid fertilizers, foliar application of Bio 20 @ 3ml/l recorded significantly higher seed cotton yield, boll weight, lint index, gross returns and net returns (18.10 q ha-1,100.66 g plant-1,4.06, 6.00, ` 75,022 ha-1 and ` 51,964 ha-1, respectively) over control (15.20 q ha-1, 85.64 g plant-1, 3.75, 5.24, ` 63,762 ha-1 and ` 44,072 ha-1, respectively). Higher BC ratio was recorded with foliar spray of 1 per cent MgSO4 + 0.5 per cent ZnSO4 (3.31). Application of 125 per cent RDF in combination with foliar spray of Bio 20 @ 3ml/l recorded significantly higher dry matter accumulation in leaves at 135 DAS, dry matter accumulation in stem at harvest, number of sympodial branches per plant at 90 DAS, number of nodes on main stem at 135 DAS and leaf area at 135 DAS (86.77 g plant-1, 125.73 g plant-1, 19.47, 26.93 and 105.88 dm2 plant-1, respectively). Whereas, higher dry matter production at 90 DAS (240.83 g plant-1) was recorded due to the application of 125 per cent RDF with foliar spray of 2 per cent KNO3
