An evaluation of job involvement of women officers of KSDA and their contributions to rural women

Abstract


A study was carried out during 2011-12 on Women Officers of Karnataka state department of Agriculture, passed out from Agricultural University to ascertain job involvement and their contributions to the rural women. The Women Officers are the animator, promoter and facilitator for rural women to adopt new technologies in agriculture and increasing the production. The study was restricted to 60 Women Officers of KSDA, selected from 4 districts i.e., Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri. In addition 120 rural women also formed the second sample to know Women Officers contribution to the rural women. The scale developed by Lodhal and Kejner (1965) was used to measure the job involvement of Women Officers. Comparison of job involvement of Home Science and Agriculture graduates was done. Overall index of job involvement of Home Science Women Officers was 79.64 per cent, while for Agriculture Women Officers it was 76.71 per cent. Among Home Science Women Officers age, education, experience and training were significantly correlated, but for agriculture Women Officers all variables were found nonsignificant with job involvement. Results from multiple regression analysis showed that age and education were affecting the job involvement and contributions of Home Science Women Officers, but in case of agriculture Women Officers all variables were not affecting the job involvement and contributions to the rural women.
