Abstract

Relative bio-efficacy of deltamethrin (0.0028 %), alphamethrin (0.01 %), deltamethrin + triazophos (0.036 %),ethion + cypermethrin (0.045 %), profenophos (0.1 %), imidacloprid (0.0053 %) and acetamiprid (0.02 %) were evaluated against pest complex of okra at Main Vegetable Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) during summer and kharif 2009-10. Imidacloprid and acetamiprid proved the most effective against aphid, Aphis gossypii Glov., leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula Ishida and whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Gen. Also, Deltamethrin + triazophos was proved effective against B. tabaci. Ethion + cypermethrin, imidacloprid and acetamiprid proved significantly the most effective against red mite, Tetranychus telarius on okra, deltamethrin + triazophos and deltamethrin alone were found moderately effective. Among the insecticides evaluated, significantly low damage due to shoot and fruit borer, Earias vittella Fab. was registered in the plots treated with profenophos and deltamethrin. The treatment of imidacloprid produced highest (105.22 q/ha) yield, followed by acetamiprid (100.16 q/ha) and deltamethrin + triazophos (89.78 q/ha). Ethion + cypermethrin, deltamethrin and profenophos performed equally effective and exhibited yield ranging from 75.61 to 85.93 q/ha. With respect to Incremental Cost Benefit Ratio (ICBR), highest (1: 22.08) return was registered in imidacloprid followed by deltamethrin(1: 14.22) and deltamethrin + triazophos (1: 12.70).
