Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2004 in the farmers field at Mirjan village of Kumta taluk to study the effect of nutrients and biofertilizers on yield and yield components of rice in coastal agro-ecosystem. Various treatments imposed were; recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF), 150 per cent RDF, biofertilizers (Azospirillum and P Solubiliser) and ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1. The results revealed that the treatment which received 150 per cent RDF, biofertilizers and ZnSO4 @ 25 kg ha-1 recorded the highest value of all yield components, grain yield (111.2 q ha-1) and straw yield (127.6 q ha-1). The highest gross returns (Rs.62,800), net returns (Rs.47,513) and benefit cost ratio (4.1) was also recorded in this treatment.
