L.M. Yashavanthkumar, V. Rudra Naik, Suma S. Biradar

Abstract

The experiment was conducted during rabi 2011-12 to study the micronutrient status in wheat. The investigation was carried out at the Dr. Sanjay Rajaram wheat laboratory, All India Coordinated Wheat Improvement Project, Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. The study material included 76 Triticum aestivum, 22 Triticum durum and 2 Triticum dicoccum genotypes. The study material showed wide variability for micronutrients viz., Iron (24.90-50.60 mg/kg), Zinc (25.25-58.80 mg/kg), Manganese (20.10-42.50 mg/kg), Copper (3.10-5.60 mg/kg) and Magnesium (1001.00-1833.00 mg/kg). For grain iron content, 37 genotypes were found superior while 23 for zinc, 40 for manganese, 23 for copper and 19 for magnesium.
