Abstract

The field and laboratory experiments were conducted at the Main Agricultural Research Station, College of Agriculture, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to investigate the effect of seed polymer coating on growth and yield of pigeonpea Cv BSMR 736. The experiment consisted of eight seed treatments [T1: Control, T2: Deltamethrin 2.8 EC @ 0.3 ml/kg seeds, T3: Vitavax power @ 3 g/kg seed, T4: Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/ kg seeds, T5: Deltamethrin 2.8 EC @ 0.3 ml/ kg seeds + Vitavax power @ 3 g/kg  seed, T6: Deltamethrin 2.8 EC @ 0.3 ml/kg seeds + Polymer seed coating @   5 ml /kg seeds, T7: Vitavax power @ 3 g/kg seed + Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml /kg seed, T8: Deltamethrin 2.8 EC @ 0.3 ml/kg seeds + Vitavax power @ 3 g /kg seed + Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg seeds) laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The results revealed that, Deltamethrin 2.8 EC @ 0.3 ml/kg seeds + Vitavax power @ 3 g / kg seed + Polymer seed coating @ 5 ml/kg seeds (T8) was found to be significantly superior with respect to growth and yield parameters viz., plant height, number of primary branches, number of secondary branches, number of pods per plant, pod yield per plant, seed yield per hectare as compared to untreated control.
