Abstract

The study was conducted in Dharwad district of Karnataka during 2011-12. Considering maximum area under wheat cultivation as criteria, three taluks viz., Navalgund, Dharwad and Hubli talukas of Dharwad district were selected purposively for conducting the study. Two villages were selected from each taluk. From each selected village, 20 farmers growing wheat were selected by simple random sampling procedure. Thus, sample from each taluk was 40, making a total sample size of 120. The ex post-facto research design was used for the study. Most of the respondents (49.16%) had medium level of knowledge about recommended wheat cultivation practices. Higher knowledge was observed in case of varieties, correct time of application of FYM, major pests and diseases of the crop, whereas least knowledge was noticed in case of seed treatment with Azospirillum.
