Abstract

Timely and relevant technical information and input supply to the farmers is vital for improving agricultural productivity. The study was conducted in Gadag district in which three taluks viz., Gadag, Mundargi and Ron comprising of total six Raitha Samparka Kendras (RSKs) were purposively selected. Krishi Vignana Kendra (KVK) was the main source for the RSKs for obtaining agricultural information followed by Assistant Director of Agriculture (ADA) and Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC). The agricultural information obtained from the various sources were processed occasionally in the form of leaflets, folder, charts, and training materials and translated to local language during the season. All the six RSKs contacted private firms followed by directorate of agriculture for acquisition of inputs viz., seeds, fertilizers, etc. The information was disseminated to the farmers along with inputs, mostly during farmers’ contact at the RSK office.
