Profile of ADAs and AOs and Organizational Climate in Karnataka State

Abstract


The study was conducted during 2004-05 in Karnataka state to measure the organizational climate perception of Assistant Directors of Agriculture (ADAs) and Agricultural Officers (AOs) of Karnataka State Department of Agriculture. It was found that more number of the ADAs (40.0%) and AOs (50.0%) belonged to young and middle age group, respectively. M. Sc. (Agri.) and Ph. D. degree, was noticed with high per cent of ADAs (70.0 and 19.7%, respectively) as compared to AOs (51.7 and 1.7%, respectively). However, more number of both the category were noticed in medium level of job experience, perceived work load, job satisfaction, job involvement, job stress, organization stress and job performance. The major problems expressed were lack of promotional opportunities and political interference in implementing programmes or schemes. The suggestions offered were providing opportunity for the sub-ordinates to plan programme at grass root level, promotion based on experience, providing good audio visual aids, good transport facilities and cash reward by both the category of respondents.
