Variability and Correlation Studies in Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.)
R.P. Smitha, N. Basavraja
Abstract
Forty chilli genotypes were evaluated for variability, heritability genetic advance and correlation studies under rainfed condition. Analysis of variance indicated significant differences among the genotypes with respect to both quantitative and qualitative characters. Correlation studies revealed that, importance should be given to number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, number of primary branches, fruit length, fruit diameter and plant height during selection process, because these characters are going to contribute directly towards the yield.
