Abstract

The technology demonstration component under National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project has been initiated in the year 2010-11 by KVK, Chintamani at S. Raghuttahalli Village, Chintamani taluk, Chikkaballapura district. Four intervention modules were implemented as part of the project. As part of NRM activity we constructed 2 check dams, one nalabund, 8 farm ponds, 13 percolation ponds, trench cum bunds in farm fields and recharged two borewell in the project village, that created an additional rain water storages capacity of 3,04,33,000 litres. Suitable new crop varieties and cropping systems (groundnut + red gram and ragi + red gram) were demonstrated to improve crop-climate resilience. Farmers groups have been formed to discuss and implement suitable agro-practices under the influence of changed climatic conditions. Training programmes, exposure visits and animal health camps were conducted to technically empower the farmers to make themselves vibrant to climatic aberrations
