Impact of educational intervention on personal health and hygiene practices of rural young girls

Abstract


Rural adolescent girls and women's health and wellbeing are directly linked to the healthy wellbeing of the family and proper development of the children, who are the future citizens of India. Hence it is strongly believed that educating rural adolescent girls and women's is very vital to bring forth any change and move towards a healthy and hygienic environment. Education intervention is a planned set of procedures which aims at teaching or improve social skills to an individual or groups of rural young girls. Providing such an intervention to rural young girls can help to develop health habits and hygiene practices. Hence, an effort was made to assess the knowledge gain of rural adolescent girls on selected topics through given intervention and to analyze knowledge gain through "before and after" type of experiment. Education intervention was provide to the rural adolescent girls and helped them to gain knowledge on health and hygiene. The result shows that significant improvement in personal health and hygiene.
