Knowledge of home and surrounding hygiene by the rural adolescent girls

Abstract


Home and surrounding is one of the significantly important part of living organism and civilized people of society.  Good home and surrounding hygiene creates a powerful shield against diseases.  Many microorganisms were developed day to day at home and surrounding. Home and surrounding hygiene is an important element in prevention ranking along with nutritious food, drinking water and keeping livestock and domestic animals healthy. Rural adolescent girls are future citizens of women in India. Providing intervention to rural young girls can help to develop home and surrounding hygiene practices and parents can also be reached and the information can be disseminated among them. Hence, an effort was made to assess the knowledge gain of rural adolescent girls on selected topics through given intervention and to analyze knowledge gain through "before and after" type of experiment. Result revealed that after the education intervention there was high gain in knowledge on home and surrounding hygiene among the rural adolescent girls of both the regions. Z - values shows significantly improvement of home and surrounding hygiene after the post test.
