Abstract

A field experiment was conducted with 11 treatments and three replication to study the sequential application of pre and post emergence herbicides in soybean at Main Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad during kharif 2013. The results revealed that among the herbicide treatments, application of oxyfluorfen 23.5 EC at 0.1 kg a.i./ha followed by imazethapyr 10 SL at 75 g a.i./ha has recorded significantly higher number of pods per plant (80.72), test weight (12.46 g), net return (` 88391) and B:C ratio (3.55). However, these treatments were on par with checks; farmers practice and alachlor 50 EC at 1.5 kg a.i./ha followed by intercultivation and hand weeding while, lower total number of weeds, weed dry weight and higher WCE was recorded with application of oxyfluorfen 23.5 EC at 0.1 kg a.i./ha followed by imazethapyr 10 SL at 100 g a.i./ha at all the stages of crop growth. Pre emergence application of oxyfluorfen at 0.1 kg a.i./ha and post-emergence application of imazethapyr at 100 g a.i./ha shown phytotoxic effect on plant. However, the symptoms disappeared completely at later stages.
